Directions:
1. Place the softened butter in the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment attached. If you do not have a stand mixer, place the butter in a large bowl and prepare your handheld electric mixer. American buttercream works best when using an electric mixer of any kind in order to get thefluffiest, softest buttercream.

2. Add one cup of the powdered sugar to the bowl as well, sifting if needed, then slowly turn the mixer on low speed to incorporate the sugar into the butter.

3. Once blended, turn the mixer up to high speed and allow the butter and 1 cup of sugar to get very fluffy and light (whip for about 5 minutes, scraping the bowl down as needed to incorporate all the butter).

4. Add the remaining sugar, one cup at a time, turning the mixer off to add the sugar then whipping the frosting well after each addition.

5. Once all the sugar has been added, add the salt, heavy cream and vanilla bean paste to the mix and whip again to incorporate the final ingredients.

6. Once the ingredients are all fully combined, the frosting is ready to use! Store at room temperature for up to three days.
